New Your Times Launched the there First Google Glass App, Google Glass user gets the breaking NEWS and hourly NEWS updates with the option to have article summaries read aloud.

The official New York Times Google Glass app lets users get breaking news alerts and hourly news updates, with the option to have article summaries read aloud. To use this app user should have  a Google Account  and that manages the timeline of the Glass.

Project Glass is a research and development program by Google to develop an augmented reality head-mounted display (HMD). Project Glass products would display information insmartphone-like format hands-free and could interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands. The prototype’s functionality and minimalist appearance (aluminium strip with 2 nose pads) has been compared to Steve Mann‘s EyeTap.

The operating system software used in the glasses will be Google’s Android.

It could easily be overpriced. If you want to buy a very fancy pair of designer glasses, you could easily spend $300-$500. Google needs to aim right in this price range (and not much higher) to keep potential consumers interested.

How will we address theft? People steal phones. People steal tablets. It’s not hard to imagine someone walking up to you, grabbing the Google Glasses right off your face, and sprinting away. Will there be a “Find My Glasses” feature?

People might not want to “wear” their technology. People who already wear glasses will have less of a hurdle to clear here – they’re already accustomed to strapping eyewear to their faces every day. But a large portion of the population uses contact lenses or doesn’t have corrected vision. There will likely be a social speedbump to get over before people are wearing them in public without being self-conscious.

The tech giant is throwing two events to let developers have an “early look at Glass” and become familiar with the wearable platform’s software.

Google announced  that it is throwing two hackathons for developers to get to know and work on its Google Glass project. The people allowed to participate in the events are those who agreed to fork over $1,500 for the developer edition of the wearable device.

“It’s the first opportunity for a group of developers to get together and develop for Glass,” Google told CNET.

The hackathons are slated to be two days long and take place in San Francisco on January 28 and 29 and in New York on February 1 and 2. Those developers attending the events will be able to have an “early look at Glass” and “have a device to use while on-site.”
